In Over My Head (but not really)
The door of my art studio might as well have been a floodgate because the moment I opened it a torrent of art opportunities began to pour into my life! While reaching out to The Art House about any studio openings was spontaneous and unprompted, actually committing to the prospect of teaching art, while still in school, was a leap of faith. In wondering what might become of these new art endeavors, of course, there is a tendency to doubt and worry.
What if no one is interested in my art? What if the work is too much for me?
Despite this, I decided to leave it all up to God, see where it goes, and trust that He was at work. Sure enough, the moment I let go of my worries and surrendered my plans to Him, instantly, everything was made clear.
It was as if every time I opened my email inbox, it was a new opportunity, connection, or project. Before I knew it (and I am still trying to grapple with this reality) I was in over my head with all this art stuff! But not in a bad way. I see God’s sense of humor in it all.
Okay, God. I am just going to let you do your thing. I am not sure if this art thing will go well, but only time will tell…
Then, Boom! In a matter of two weeks, I have 3 illustration gigs, I am teaching a lesson in my studio with more clients to come, I am working with Cooks Children Hospital for an art donation, and I am preparing the studio for a town-wide studio tour where a least 1000 people will pass by! Of course, updates and details about all these things will be on the website. My doubts have been completely erased and I sense a new lease on life now that I get to use my talents and help others as a job.
